Collaborative agreement between ICCR and SNOMED International
June 2026

ICCR is pleased to announce the signing of a new collaboration agreement with SNOMED International aimed at enhancing the interoperability and reach of ICCR’s cancer reporting datasets through integration with SNOMED CT.
Under this agreement, all 63 of ICCR’s published cancer pathology datasets will be mapped to SNOMED CT concepts, producing a freely available global SNOMED CT set of approximately 5,000 concepts. This will ensure that ICCR’s structured reporting content is accessible within SNOMED CT, supporting consistent and computable cancer reporting worldwide.
Led by Associate Professor Scott Campbell, the International SNOMED CT Validation Working Group holds fortnightly meetings to define and validate the bindings between ICCR dataset elements and SNOMED CT codes. Bindings will be updated and released for each dataset edition.
This partnership represents a significant step towards seamlessly linking ICCR’s evidence-based cancer reporting standards with a globally recognised clinical terminology, ultimately supporting improved data quality, comparability, and interoperability in cancer care.
